Wuhan is set on the banks of the Yangtze River, the longest in China. Surrounded by the history and the landscape of this river, emerges this mixed-use complex building. It offers a wide variety of programs that include dwellings, leisure, headquarters, offices and a hotel. Nevertheless, the complex is conceived as a unitarian structure of buildings.
This architectural ensemble echoes the outline of the fisherman’s boats of China on the river, under the silhouette of its sails. As a whole it emerges as a memorial to the historical landscape of the river. Indeed, the complex draws its skyline as if it were a group of the earliest boats of the fishermen on the Yangtze River.
Additionally, the shape of the whole complex building has an outline of walls, which also represents a kind of a flower-shape. This layout integrates it with the natural and organic systems of the mountains that surround the buildings. So, the complex joins the agricultural culture of its surroundings and the sailing tradition of the Yangtze River.
