Spatial Forces
Loop Sci-Port is our proposal for this project. It faces the challenge of proposing new answers to three questions from three key visions:
1. Sociopolitical vision: How can a new Shenzhen-Hong Kong community that promotes collaboration be created?
2. Scientific Research vision: How can a new research hub that will become the innovation engine for the Greater Bay Area be created?
3. Urbanistic vision: How can a new spatial strategy be developed that enables a symbiosis between city and nature?
A complex structure on a matrix of lab disciplines, programmed as wet and dry labs:
-Wet labs: Life (biomedical technology) & Matter (microelectronic technology & new material technology).
-Dry labs: Data (Robotics, Big Data & Artificial Intelligence, and Financial Technology).
The basic unit of the project is the grid, created by blocks and patios. Blocks, organized starting from a basic module, have a variable width of between 20 and 30m and the patio has an average size of 36 x 36m. Rising in perpendicular blocks, individual buildings and a mixed 3D grid which combine them where a multi-layered park links the canal, labs, shared spaces, boulevard, and the riverfront.
The science and tech park is embodied through the aggregation of a module: shared knowledge, proximity to nature, commercial activity, neuron clusters, and crossroad meet-up zones. All these scientific and commercial elements are combined with local traditions and nature processes, from the city to the river and from the ground to the sky.
