Located in Quzhou, China, THE GREEN SEAM is a visionary mixed-use development that seamlessly integrates with the surrounding natural environment. The design is centered around the idea of a gateway, acting as a frame and interface between the urban and natural areas and balancing its inside activities with elemental principles and concepts.

Spatial Layout
THE GREEN SEAM's spatial layout ensures maximum efficiency and flexibility, allowing visitors to navigate the space with ease and engage with the different programs seamlessly. The project consists of three plots that contain distinct functions. The southernmost plot is dedicated to the cultural zone, featuring a 4-8 story building with a variable height. The middle and northernmost plots each contain a plinth and a tower, with the two towers connected by an overhang.
The project's layout is directly influenced by its concept, which incorporates the five traditional Chinese elements of Fire, Wood, Water, Metal, and Earth. The integration of these elements throughout the project is intended to metaphorize the flow between its business, commercial, leisure, cultural, and educational functions.

Ecological Urbanism
THE GREEN SEAM is designed with the concept of ecological urbanism in mind, aiming to harbor the built environment within the natural ecosystem in place. To that effect, sustainable materials and green spaces are incorporated throughout the development to promote a healthy and sustainable lifestyle for residents and visitors alike. The location's climate, with an average humidity of 76% and a sunrise/sunset that accompanies both facades of the building (nature at dawn, urban by night) is also considered in the design in order to create a system that works together with the location to create a sustainable and environmentally-friendly space, with features such as green roofs, wind turbines, solar panels, automated car-parks and rainwater & kinetic energy harvesting technology. The development's domotics focus on intelligent systems that improve overall energy consumption and allow for automated functions such as maintenance & monitoring of the several components within the project.
